Lincoln-Way West girls tennis fell 6-1 to Andrew High School on Thursday, but the Warriors found a bright spot at the top of their lineup.
First singles standout Chloe Jack secured her first conference victory of the season, winning a tight match 6-3, 7-5. Her effort provided momentum for a squad that continues to grow in competitiveness.
“Our singles players continue to compete and improve each day at practice and during match play,” head coach John Cupp said. “Our younger players who are playing varsity for the first time this season are really doing a great job.”
The Warriors, now 4-6 on the season, have leaned on a mix of experienced returners and new faces in varsity action. Despite Thursday’s overall loss, West’s continued progress has coaches optimistic heading into a busy stretch of the schedule.
Lincoln-Way West will compete in the Lockport Invite on Saturday, Sept. 20, where the team looks to build on Jack’s momentum and gain valuable match experience as conference play continues.
