Lincoln-Way West boys basketball earned a 70–60 nonconference victory over Bremen behind a balanced scoring effort and strong work on the glass.
The game was played Jan. 21 at Bremen High School.
The Warriors placed four players in double figures and controlled the tempo through the second half to build separation. Luke Gouty led the way with a double-double, finishing with 16 points and 14 rebounds while anchoring the interior on both ends of the floor. Eiden Kubilius added 15 points with consistent perimeter shooting, and Ryan Hegji provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, giving Lincoln-Way West valuable production from its second unit. Drake Been rounded out the balanced attack with 12 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc to help stretch the defense and open driving lanes.
Lincoln-Way West shared the ball effectively and converted in transition, using defensive stops and rebounding to limit second-chance opportunities and maintain control down the stretch. The Warriors’ ability to score at multiple levels and defend in the half court proved decisive as Bremen attempted to make late runs.
Up next, Lincoln-Way West will host Thornton Fractional South on Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. in a nonconference matchup.
