Lincoln-Way West secured a 6-1 victory over Lockport in a non-conference baseball game on Friday, propelled by a commanding complete-game performance from left-handed pitcher Anthony Vita.
According to the match details, the Warriors initiated their scoring in the second inning with a five-run burst. Kaden Kopacz contributed with a sacrifice fly, followed by RBI singles from Carson Paulas, Conor Essenburg, Jackson Mansker, and Peyton Globke. Each player drove in one run during this offensive push.
Vita limited Lockport to just two hits and one earned run over seven innings. He recorded three strikeouts and issued two walks to claim the win. Lockport’s Trace Schaaf was charged with the loss after allowing six runs—five of which were earned—over 3 2/3 innings. Schaaf struck out four batters and walked five.
The Warriors amassed ten hits throughout the game, with Mansker and Globke each contributing two while batting consecutively. Kopacz, Essenburg, Paulas, and Mansker also added RBIs to their tally. The team drew six walks and executed clean defense by turning one double play without committing any errors. Michael Pettit led defensively with eight fielding chances.
For Lockport, Drew Satunas went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Logan Nagle drove in the team’s sole run. Despite their efforts, Lockport also turned a double play but could not overcome Lincoln-Way West’s lead.
Lincoln-Way West is set to host Lemont on Saturday.
