The Lincoln-Way West Warriors defeated the Joliet West Tigers 15–0 in a girls varsity softball non-conference matchup.
The game took place at Joliet West High School and saw Lincoln-Way West deliver a dominant performance from the opening inning, scoring four runs in the first and never looking back. The Warriors’ offense exploded for 15 runs on 12 hits, including an eight-run third inning that put the game out of reach early. Defensively, West was flawless, committing zero errors while shutting out Joliet West and limiting them to no hits. The Tigers struggled to contain the Warriors’ aggressive lineup, committing six errors that contributed to the lopsided result.
Lincoln Way West serves grades 9 to 12 with an enrollment of 1,941 students during the 2019-2020 school year. It is located in New Lenox and Will County, according to the Illinois Report Card. Out of these students, 37 percent were in grade 12, 36.1 percent in grade 11, and 36.3 percent in grade 9 during that period. The highest concentration was in grade 10 with 39.4 percent of all students.
Demographically, Lincoln Way West is made up of 81.8 percent white students, 1.8 percent black students, 12.7 percent Hispanic students, and 1 percent Asian students for the same school year as reported by the Illinois Report Card.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way West will face Marist on Monday, March 30 at 4:30 p.m. for another non-conference game according to MaxPreps. The last time these teams met, Lincoln-Way West fell to Marist Redhawks by a score of 1-0 on April 25 last year.
