The Lincoln-Way West Warriors football program is entering the 2025 season with confidence and experience under the leadership of head coach Luke Lokanc. With a veteran roster and several seniors committed to college programs, the team aims to compete in the Southwest Suburban Conference and beyond.
According to Lokanc, “The offense is anchored by a powerful ground game,” led by running back Jahan Abubakar, who is committed to South Dakota, and versatile back Jimmy Talley. Fullback Vince Villa adds additional power, while wide receiver Chase Markowicz, who is bound for Illinois State, provides a dynamic threat in the passing attack. New quarterback Grant Tustin takes over under center, tasked with guiding an offense strengthened by a veteran line consisting of Riley Kliros, Matt Rick, and Adam Holuj.
Defensively, the Warriors return key playmakers. Brady Nelson anchors the defensive line, while linebacker Noah Wendt leads the middle. The secondary features safety Jackson Mansker and two-way standout Markowicz. New contributors Devin Bills and Gavin Larson are expected to bolster the front.
Special teams provide stability with senior kicker Zach Hermanson, described as “a four-year varsity veteran.” With a challenging schedule ahead and a roster filled with leadership, Lokanc believes that 2025 could be a defining season for the Warriors, marked by toughness, balance, and championship ambition.
