LW West sweeps Plainfield Central, advances to Regional Semifinal

Lincoln-Way West boys varsity volleyball team secured a victory against Plainfield Central in straight sets on Saturday night, with scores of 25-20 and 25-16, during the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) regional quarterfinal.

With this win, the Warriors advance to the regional semifinal scheduled for Sunday, May 25. According to reports, Lincoln-Way West controlled the pace early on, narrowly winning a competitive first set before dominating the second set to secure the match.

Senior setter Aidan Kettelson led the offense with 14 assists and added a kill. Outside hitter Hunter Vedder contributed significantly with nine kills and two aces. Middle blocker Drew Kregul added five kills and two blocks, while David Neylon provided four kills. Libero Colin Baikie anchored the defense with six digs and served three aces.

The Warriors demonstrated balance across the court by capitalizing on Plainfield Central’s unforced errors and maintaining consistent pressure at the net.

Lincoln-Way West is building momentum in its postseason as it aims for a regional title. The semifinal match is set for Sunday at 7 p.m., though their opponent had not been determined at press time. This victory marks another strong playoff push for Lincoln-Way West as they aim to build on their success in the 2025 season.
