LWW boys swim team places third at IHSA Sectional

Lincoln-Way West boys varsity swimming team delivered a strong performance at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sectional on Saturday, finishing in third place with 248 points.

According to the results, Lincoln-Way Central secured the top spot with 282 points, while Lincoln-Way East took second with 265. Victor J. Andrew High School placed fourth with 178 points, and Bradley-Bourbonnais finished fifth with 142.

The Warriors saw multiple swimmers qualify for the IHSA State Finals. Jake McCormack earned a spot in the 50-yard freestyle, while Billy Spee advanced in the 100-yard butterfly. Additionally, the 200-yard freestyle relay team, consisting of McCormack, Colin Stack, Spee, and Matt Wolf, qualified for state.

Head coach Eric Pavlacka praised the team’s effort, noting their determination and hard work throughout the season. “We’re incredibly proud of how our swimmers competed today,” Pavlacka said. “Earning state qualifications is a huge achievement, and we’re excited to see what they can do at the next level.”

The Warriors will now prepare for the IHSA State Finals next weekend, where they hope to continue their success against top competition.
