In singles play, the Warriors were nearly unstoppable. No. 1 singles player Joey Wakefield cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory, showing no signs of slowing down. At No. 2 singles, Donovan Ring posted a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win. Carter Stiglic, playing No. 3 singles, started off close but pulled away in the second set for a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Lincoln-Way West also had a strong showing in doubles competition. At No. 2 doubles, John Schwerha and Jack Tisch battled through three sets to win 7-5, 3-6, 10-6 in a competitive match. No. 3 doubles pair Gage Verbeek and Gavin Atwood delivered a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win, while Will McClellan and Olliver Sweeney followed suit at No. 4 doubles with a matching 6-1, 6-2 performance.
The only loss of the day came at No. 1 doubles.
“It has been a great start to the season,” said a team spokesperson following the match. “The boys are playing with confidence and focus. We’re excited to keep building momentum.”
With two commanding team wins under their belt, the Warriors are looking ahead to the rest of the season with optimism and energy. The mix of dominant singles play and deep doubles talent has given Lincoln-Way West a balanced and dangerous lineup early on.
The team will look to continue its winning streak in its next match later this week.
