Lincoln-Way West’s boys’ water polo team began their season with two victories on Monday, defeating Lincoln-Way Central and Homewood-Flossmoor to achieve a 2-0 start.
According to the team’s representative, the Warriors faced a challenging match against Lincoln-Way Central but emerged victorious with a score of 15-13. Later, they secured a decisive 19-6 win over Homewood-Flossmoor. Matt Wolf led the offensive effort, scoring 14 goals across both games. John Kucala added seven goals, while Tyler Stasiak contributed four.
“Our guys came out strong and played with great energy,” said the team representative. “Starting the season with two wins gives us momentum, and we’re excited to keep improving.”
The offensive capabilities of Lincoln-Way West were evident as Wolf demonstrated his prowess in front of the net. Kucala and Stasiak provided crucial secondary scoring, enabling the Warriors to maintain possession and exert pressure on their opponents.
Defensively, Lincoln-Way West remained steadfast during critical moments, particularly in their close contest with Lincoln-Way Central. Key defensive plays and effective goalkeeping were instrumental in securing victory in a game that was competitive until the end.
