Lincoln-Way West’s boys varsity volleyball team delivered a determined performance on Tuesday night but ultimately fell short in a 2-1 loss to Stagg during a SouthWest Suburban Conference matchup.
According to the match details, the Warriors gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about, winning the first set 25-22 before narrowly dropping the next two, 23-25 and 25-27. The match highlighted Lincoln-Way West’s resilience and determination, even in defeat. The team now holds a record of 14-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Senior captain Colin Baikie led with an all-around standout effort—11 kills, 14 digs, 2 aces, 2 blocks, and 10 service points—setting the tone on both offense and defense. Hunter Vedder contributed with 9 kills, 8 digs, 5 service points, and 3 blocks.
Mason Thompson recorded 6 kills and 9 digs, while Andrew Flores performed strongly in the back row with 12 digs and 8 service points. Ryne Ferree directed the offense with 19 assists, supported by Aidan Kettelson’s contribution of eight assists.
Despite not closing out the match, Lincoln-Way West’s fight and teamwork were evident. The team aims to rebound in their next game as they strive for a top spot in the conference.
