Lincoln-Way West achieved a decisive 15-0 victory over Willowbrook in varsity baseball on Friday afternoon, largely due to a significant offensive surge in the fourth inning.
According to the game report, Lincoln-Way West’s offense ignited in the top of the fourth inning with a sequence of singles from Peyton Globke, Quinten Lange, Owen Weber, Lucas Acevedo, Conor Essenburg, and Ian Hazelip. Lange and Essenburg each contributed two RBIs during this inning. A walk by Globke and an error by Willowbrook further fueled the scoring.
The team initially scored in the first inning through a successful steal of home. Additional runs were added in the third inning with contributions from Essenburg’s triple, Jackson Mansker’s groundout, and Lange’s double.
Pitcher Anthony Vita secured the win for Lincoln-Way West by delivering four scoreless innings while allowing only one hit, striking out two batters, and issuing one walk. Mikey Garner took the loss for Willowbrook after conceding eight runs—four of which were earned—in just over three innings.
The Warriors accumulated 11 hits during the game. Lange, Essenburg, and Michael Pettit each recorded two hits, with Lange achieving a game-high four RBIs. Lincoln-Way West committed no errors and executed one double play. The team is scheduled to face Oswego East on Saturday.
