LWW girls’ badminton secured a narrow 8-7 victory over Carl Sandburg on Thursday, April 17, in a closely contested matchup that concluded with the final match of the night.
According to the team’s performance report, the Warriors earned key doubles victories at the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 spots. Caitlyn Mix and Amber Sylvester achieved a strong win at No. 2 doubles, while Kennedi Weis and Meghan Ezell clinched the No. 4 court. Gianna Vlastelica and Avary Shinovich completed the doubles success with a win at No. 5.
In singles play, Eliza Duda, Caitlyn Mix, Peyton White, and Jess Dakin each contributed crucial points with individual victories.
The deciding match was played by Ava MacFarlane in a dramatic three-set battle. After taking the first set 21-18, MacFarlane lost the second set 14-21 but rebounded with a 21-19 win in the final set to secure the overall team win for Lincoln-Way West.
