The Lincoln-Way West girls’ varsity bowling team concluded its season with a 19th-place finish at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Finals in Rockford, Illinois, over the weekend.
According to the team’s performance records, the Warriors began the competition strongly, achieving their highest game score of the year with a 1,020 in the morning session. This performance initially placed them in 10th position after the first squad. However, they faced challenges in the afternoon session and ultimately finished 19th out of 230 teams statewide.
Despite not meeting their ultimate goal for the season, the Warriors demonstrated significant progress by earning team awards in four tournaments this year—an improvement from just one last season. Their accomplishments included a first-place finish, two second-place finishes, and a fourth-place finish.
With all starters expected to return next season, there is optimism within the team about building on this year’s achievements. “We’ve made great progress, and next year looks even more promising,” said the team.
Lincoln-Way West concluded the state competition with a total score of 5,199, marking a strong season characterized by growth and achievement.
