Lincoln-Way West class of 2022 member William Brandau has earned Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) All-Academic honors, playing for the University of St. Francis (Ill.)

The 5’11, 206-pound senior defensive back, a marketing major, was a first-time recipient of the honor, which goes to football players who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25, and who are at least in their sophomore year of school.

Brandau has played in five games for the Fighting Saints, making five tackles.

St. Francis, which plays at the NAIA level, opens its season at 1:00 p.m. Sept. 6 vs. Taylor University at Joliet Memorial Stadium.

Taylor, which won nine games in 2024, is picked to finish second in the MSFA, behind three-time defending champion Indiana Wesleyan.

The Fighting Saints went 7-3 last season.
