Lincoln Way West High School is set to host a Strength & Conditioning Camp for coed athletes in grades 6–8 during January and February 2025. The camp aims to enhance speed, explosiveness, strength, and flexibility, providing young athletes with a solid foundation.
According to the school, the camp will be offered in two separate sessions: one in January and another in February. Each session will run for three weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The January camp dates are scheduled for January 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, and 30. The February camp will occur on February 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, and 27.
The program covers a range of key training elements. It includes a segment on speed, agility, and quickness focusing on sprint mechanics, acceleration, and change of direction. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of plyometric training with techniques for jumping, landing, and reacting safely and effectively. Strength exercises will emphasize foundational movement patterns such as squats, lunges, and pushes. Flexibility training will incorporate dynamic movements, static stretching, and yoga to improve mobility and recovery.
All sessions will be led by Lincoln-Way West’s Strength Staff along with Warrior Strength Student Leaders to ensure participants receive expert instruction and guidance.
The cost of the camp is $75 with registration now open online. There will be no refunds available. The camp is set to take place in the LWW Weight Room located through Door 7 by the Aquatics Center. Space is limited to maintain a safe coach-to-athlete ratio.
