The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team faced a setback on Friday, losing to Lincoln-Way Central with a score of 10-4. This defeat brought their overall record to 9-3 and their Southwest Suburban Conference play record to 1-2. Despite an encouraging start, the Warriors were unable to match Central’s offensive performance in the later innings.
According to the game details, Hannah Borchert made a notable contribution at the plate by going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and scoring once. Reese Rourke also reached base three times, ending with a 2-for-3 performance that included a run, a walk, and a stolen base. Jess Noga contributed by going 1-for-2, drawing a walk, and crossing the plate twice. Reese Forsythe maintained her strong hitting form with a 2-for-4 showing and an RBI, while Reese Cusack added another hit for West.
Despite these efforts, the Warriors found it challenging to contain Lincoln-Way Central’s lineup. The loss marked their third of the season and second within conference competition.
The team is set to return to action on Saturday morning for a nonconference matchup against Oswego. The first pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Lincoln-Way West will aim to reset and regroup as they continue through the heart of the season, striving for consistency in upcoming games.
