Lincoln-Way West’s varsity girls swimming team dominated the pool Saturday, capturing first place at its own Warriors College Events Invite with a team score of 420 points.
The Warriors’ victory came in convincing fashion, outlasting a deep field and edging runner-up Victor J. Andrew, which finished with 390 points. Joliet Township placed third with 294, followed by Lemont Township at 289 and Homewood-Flossmoor at 173.
Lincoln-Way West set the tone early, turning in strong results across both individual and relay events. The Warriors showcased their balance by consistently placing in scoring positions, building momentum as the meet progressed. Their depth proved decisive, with swimmers contributing points from multiple events to secure the team trophy.
The win reflected not just top finishes but also the ability of West’s lineup to perform under pressure. With a margin of 30 points over Andrew, the Warriors displayed the resilience and determination needed to close out tight races and stay ahead of the competition.
Saturday’s first-place finish highlighted the growth of a program eager to make noise throughout the season. Lincoln-Way West left no doubt it belongs at the top, setting a high standard moving forward.
