Lincoln-Way West’s girls varsity soccer team achieved a decisive 8-0 victory over Thornwood in an Illinois High School Association (IHSA) regional semifinal on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior forward Kiersten White led the offensive effort by scoring four goals for the Warriors. Additional contributions came from Natalie Borchert, Emily Tigchelaar, Ava Casner, and Katelyn Mrozowski. According to reports, Lincoln-Way West shared the ball effectively with assists from Ava Bach, Borchert, Lindsey Dust, Natalie Esposito, Molly Gillis, Riley O’Neill, and Reagan White. The team’s ball movement and control kept Thornwood on the defensive throughout most of the match.
Goalkeepers Natalie Kohlhagen and Mis Avgeris combined efforts to maintain a shutout in net, ensuring Thornwood remained scoreless and securing a dominant home win. This victory propels the Warriors into the IHSA Regional Championship on Friday as they aim to continue their postseason success.
