Lincoln-Way West’s boys varsity lacrosse team secured a narrow 8-7 overtime victory against Marist High School on Monday night. The home crowd witnessed a tense game, culminating in a decisive performance under pressure.
Senior captain Matt Konow played a pivotal role for the Warriors, achieving a hat trick and scoring the game-winning goal in overtime. His leadership was crucial in what was described as a tightly contested matchup. “It was a total team effort,” Konow said. “We stayed composed and trusted each other.”
According to the match report, sophomore Collin Kannenberg contributed two goals, keeping Lincoln-Way West competitive throughout the four quarters. Junior attackers Matt Gade and Gavin Vasquez each added one goal, completing the team’s scoring efforts.
Head coach Brad Jackson commended his players for their resilience and poise during the game. “These boys showed incredible grit tonight,” Jackson said. “They battled from the first whistle to the final shot in OT. I couldn’t be prouder.”
