Can Metea Valley stop Lincoln-Way West’s high-powered offense?
The Warriors have scored 40 points in each of its first two games.
Senior quarterback Chase Hetfleisch has two of the most lethal weapons in the Southwest Suburbs in wide receivers DeAndre Coates and Austin Rowswell. Junior running back Jahan Abubakar is averaging nine yards per carry.
But the Mustangs will be confident. Last week, they won their first game since Sept. 23, 2022, routing Plainfield Central 31-6 last Friday.
Senior quarterback Jake McLeod (5’10, 165) threw first half touchdown passes to senior Swaroop Bhaskar (6’0, 165), junior Dylan Liner (6’2, 175) and senior Dominic Smith (6’3, 185), and kicker Cameron Leys hit a 36-yard field goal as Metea led 24-0 at halftime.
The Mustangs went 0-9 in 2023 and 1-8 in 2022.
Metea Valley and Lincoln Way West have never played.
