It was déjà vu for Lincoln-Way West when the Warriors dropped a 60-51 decision to Lockport in Tuesday’s varsity girls basketball conference game, echoing their defeat from a month ago.
On February 3, Lockport once again emerged victorious on Lincoln-Way West’s home court. According to the game’s statistics, Lincoln-Way West demonstrated strong defensive activity, forcing 14 steals and matching Lockport with three blocks. The Warriors also moved the ball effectively, finishing with 13 assists compared to Lockport’s 14, while converting an efficient 80% from the free-throw line. Their ability to create turnovers and capitalize at the line kept them competitive throughout all four quarters.
However, Lockport maintained control of the glass by outrebounding Lincoln-Way West 40–23, creating extra possessions and scoring opportunities. Despite shooting 32% from the field and connecting on 30% from three-point range—slightly outperforming Lockport from beyond the arc—the Warriors trailed in overall shooting efficiency. Despite this rebounding disadvantage, their defensive pressure and steady free-throw shooting allowed them to remain within reach during the contest.
The Warriors stayed competitive thanks to strong performances from Mackenzie Roesner and Molly Finn, who led the team in scoring and helped sustain offensive rhythm.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way West is set to host Sandburg on February 5 for a high-stakes conference rematch. The team still remembers their narrow 63–59 home loss from December 11.
