Reese Cusack looks to lead Warriors after regional title

0Comments

Lincoln-Way West senior Reese Cusack enters the new season looking to build on last year’s success after helping the Warriors capture a regional championship.

Cusack, a second baseman who also saw time in right field earlier in her career, considers the postseason run one of her most memorable experiences in high school softball.

“Definitely when we won the regional last year, it was very uplifting for everyone,” Cusack said. “We were looking forward to moving on.”

Lincoln-Way West defeated Andrew to secure the title, a team Cusack expects could again be one of the Warriors’ toughest opponents this season after facing them multiple times a year ago.

Cusack has primarily played second base throughout her high school career but demonstrated versatility by contributing in right field during her sophomore season.

With another postseason push in mind, Cusack is focused on improving her individual performance to better support the team’s goals.

“My personal goal is just focusing on my accomplishments and making sure I get done what I need to to help out my team,” she said.

Cusack also emphasized the importance of team bonding and preparation as the Warriors aim to replicate last year’s success and make another deep run this spring.
