Lincoln-Way West fell to Sandburg, 73–60, in a Southwest Suburban Conference boys basketball game as the Eagles completed a season sweep of the Warriors.
The matchup took place on Dec. 12 at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Illinois, where Sandburg used home-court advantage to control the pace from the opening minutes.
Lincoln-Way West faced an early offensive surge from the Eagles, who built a multi-possession lead in the first half and maintained it throughout the contest. Sandburg relied on balanced scoring and efficient ball movement, particularly in the second and fourth quarters, to keep separation on the scoreboard. The Warriors made multiple efforts to close the gap with defensive stops and transition opportunities, but Sandburg answered each push with timely baskets.
Despite the loss, Lincoln-Way West showed stretches of competitiveness, staying engaged through physical play and attacking the basket in key moments. However, turnovers and missed opportunities limited the Warriors’ ability to fully shift momentum.
Lincoln-Way West will look to regroup when it returns home for a matchup against Bradley on January 9.
Last season, Lincoln-Way West also dropped a close contest to Sandburg, falling 59–53 on Dec. 11, making the Dec. 12 result the second loss to the Eagles in conference play.
