Lincoln-Way West used a dominant outing on the mound and timely hitting to secure a 3-1 victory over Lincoln-Way East in a conference baseball matchup.
The game took place April 13 at Lincoln-Way West High School, where the Warriors leaned on strong pitching and clean defense to control the pace throughout.
Kellen Schulte delivered a complete-game performance, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six and walking two. The right-hander consistently kept Lincoln-Way East off balance and worked efficiently through key situations to maintain the lead.
Lincoln-Way West responded after falling behind early, tying the game in the first inning following an error. The Warriors took control in the third inning when Jackson Mansker drove in a run with an RBI single to give West a 2-1 advantage.
Jacob Howard added insurance in the sixth inning with a solo home run to left field, extending the lead and providing separation late in the game.
Mansker finished with two RBIs to lead the offense, while Howard, Carson Paulas, Owen Weber, and Michael Pettit each recorded a hit. Defensively, the Warriors turned two double plays, helping preserve the lead and support Schulte’s effort on the mound.
