Lincoln-Way West fell to East Peoria 7–1 in a neutral tournament softball game at the Border Wars event.
The game, played on March 28 and hosted by East Peoria, saw Lincoln-Way West encounter strong competition from the state-ranked Raiders. Paige Seivert led the Warriors’ offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, including a solo home run that accounted for her team’s only run. Despite Seivert’s effort, East Peoria’s offense proved too strong for Lincoln-Way West to overcome as their record moved to 5–2 after this match.
The loss marks a setback for Lincoln-Way West but provides an opportunity for the team to regroup ahead of its next contest. The Warriors will return home for a conference matchup against Homewood-Flossmoor on Monday, April 6, at 4:30 p.m., offering them a chance to rebound quickly and reassert themselves in conference play following the tough tournament loss.
Lincoln-Way West and Homewood-Flossmoor have met twice during the previous season. On May 1, 2025, Lincoln-Way West earned a decisive 12–2 home conference victory. Earlier that spring, they also faced off on April 8 in another conference matchup. These results underscore the competitive history between the programs and set the stage for another important meeting as Lincoln-Way West looks to regain momentum and continue building toward a strong season.
