Sherry collects 11 tackles, second GLVC Defensive Player of the Week nod

Lincoln-Way West alum and McKendree defensive back Andrew Sherry collected 11 solo tackles, an interception, and a pair of pass breakups in the Bearcats’ 22-15 victory over MSU Moorhead on Sept. 21.

For his efforts, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Sherry earned his second Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Previously, on Sept. 14, the redshirt senior from New Lenox registered three solo tackles and one assist in McKendree’s 34-19 win over Lincoln University of Missouri.

Before beating MSU Moorhead, Sherry had 10 tackles and an interception to begin the Bearcats’ 2024 campaign.

The former Warrior started 10 games for McKendree in 2022 and had 68 tackles.

A 2019 Lincoln-Way West graduate, Sherry had five interceptions and was first-team All-Conference as a senior. He’s the son of James and Laura Sherry.

McKendree University plays Division II College Football in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, which includes Lewis University in Romeoville, Quincy University and the University of Indianapolis.

McKendree, located in Lebanon, IL, is 25 miles east of St. Louis.
