Softball shutout as Lincoln-Way West girls varsity beats PS 11–0

Lincoln-Way West defeated Plainfield South 11–0 in a non-conference girls varsity softball game.

The matchup took place at Plainfield South High School and marked the Warriors’ fourth consecutive win to open the season, according to MaxPreps. The team controlled every inning, with Abby Brueggmann throwing three shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight. Reese Cusack led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance that included a home run, a double, five runs batted in (RBI), and two runs scored. Hannah Borchert also hit a home run, while Kaylea Armstrong and Jess Noga each recorded a double. Reegan Connolly contributed a triple as Lincoln-Way West continued to apply pressure throughout the game.

Lincoln-Way West now turns its attention to a home conference matchup against Homewood-Flossmoor on Monday, April 6, at 4:30 p.m. The Warriors and Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings last met twice during the 2025 season. On May 1, 2025, Lincoln-Way West earned a decisive 12–2 home conference victory. Earlier that year, the teams also faced off on April 8 in another conference matchup.

Lincoln Way West serves grades nine through twelve and had an enrollment of 1,941 students during the 2019-2020 school year. It is located in New Lenox and Will County. Of those students, grade ten had the highest concentration at 39.4 percent; grade nine accounted for 36.3 percent; grade eleven for 36.1 percent; and grade twelve for 37 percent of all students.

According to the Illinois Report Card, Lincoln Way West’s student body was composed of 81.8 percent white students, 1.8 percent black students, 12.7 percent Hispanic students, and one percent Asian students during the same period.
