Lincoln-Way West’s varsity softball team began its season with a commanding 10-2 victory over Downers Grove South on Tuesday. The win was driven by strong performances both at the plate and on the mound.
According to reports, the Warriors’ offense started aggressively, with several players contributing to the scoring effort. Reese Cusack led the charge, achieving a 2-for-3 performance that included a double, two RBIs, two runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base. Kaylea Armstrong added to the offensive strength by finishing 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and a run. Molly Finn also made significant contributions by going 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs, a walk, and a stolen base.

Abby Brueggman was perfect at the plate with a 2-for-2 performance and scored two runs. Paige Seivert contributed with an RBI and a walk while Jess Noga added a hit and a run to complete the Warriors’ balanced offensive attack.
On the pitching side, Brueggman and Noga combined efforts for the win by keeping Downers Grove South’s hitters in check throughout the game. The Warriors’ defense supported their pitchers effectively by limiting scoring opportunities for their opponents.
With this strong opening performance, Lincoln-Way West begins its season with momentum as they prepare for upcoming games. If their offense continues producing at this level and their pitching remains steady, they are expected to be formidable competitors this season.
