Lincoln-Way West senior forward Heaven Ward provided strength, effort and leadership in the paint this season, serving as the Warriors’ top rebounder and defensive presence.
The Warriors’ season concluded Feb. 19 when Lincoln-Way West fell to Homewood-Flossmoor 55-41 in the IHSA Class 4A Regional Championship, bringing the team’s campaign to a close after a competitive year.
Ward played a major role in the Warriors’ frontcourt throughout the season. She averaged approximately 9.2 points per game while consistently battling inside against opposing forwards and centers. Her work on the glass stood out as she led the team with about 6.8 rebounds per contest, often creating second-chance opportunities for Lincoln-Way West while limiting opponents to one shot.
Beyond the numbers, Ward brought toughness and energy every time she stepped on the floor. Her willingness to battle inside, control rebounds and defend the basket helped give the Warriors a steady presence in the middle.
As her senior season comes to a close, Ward’s contributions remain an important part of Lincoln-Way West’s year and the foundation she helped build for the program moving forward.
