Warriors blank Sandburg, eye postseason after 7-0 victory

Lincoln-Way West concluded its regular season with a decisive victory over Sandburg, securing a 7-0 win at home on Friday.

The Warriors, now holding a 21-11 overall record and an 8-8 standing in the Southwest Suburban Conference, are preparing for the postseason. Their regional opener is scheduled for Tuesday at Andrew High School against Romeoville, with the first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.

According to reports, senior pitcher Abby Brueggmann played a crucial role by delivering six shutout innings, allowing only four hits and striking out six batters.

Reese Cusack was instrumental in powering the offense, achieving three hits in four at-bats, including a home run and two doubles. Cusack also contributed two RBIs, scored two runs, and stole a base. Paige Seivert added to the effort with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and two walks in her perfect 1-for-1 performance.

Kaylea Armstrong contributed with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Jess Noga drove in a run with her double. Molly Finn also added to the team’s success with a hit and a run scored while being hit by a pitch.

Lincoln-Way West’s comprehensive performance on both offense and defense provides them with momentum as they aim for an extended playoff journey starting next week.
