Lincoln-Way West High School’s girls varsity softball team achieved a decisive 9-0 victory over Romeoville High School on Tuesday, May 27. This win improved their season record to 22-11.
According to the team’s performance, the victory advances the Warriors into the regional championship game, scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Andrew High School. The offensive effort was led by several players, including Reese Cusack, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
Paige Seivert also contributed significantly with a 2-for-4 performance that included a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Molly Finn matched this effort with her own 2-for-4 showing, which included a double and an RBI. Reese Forsythe added to the offense by going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Abby Brueggmann had a perfect outing at the plate with a 1-for-1 performance that included a run scored, a walk, and being hit by a pitch.
On the pitching side, Brueggmann and Jess Noga combined efforts to deliver seven shutout innings. They allowed only four hits while striking out 11 batters, effectively neutralizing Romeoville’s offense.
The Warriors are now setting their sights on Friday’s regional championship as they aim to maintain their strong postseason momentum.
