The Lincoln-Way West girls varsity soccer team was defeated by Lockport in a penalty shootout on Tuesday evening, following a 1-1 draw during regulation time.

The nonconference match took place at Lincoln-Way West High School. Junior Katelyn Mrozowski scored the Warriors’ only goal in the second half, assisted by senior Reagan White, which equalized the score after Lockport’s initial goal earlier in the match.

Despite a strong effort during extra time, neither team managed to score again, leading to a penalty shootout. Lockport emerged victorious in the shootout, resulting in a narrow loss for Lincoln-Way West.

According to team records, the Warriors now have an overall record of 7-6. In conference play, they have achieved two wins in regulation, one win via penalties, two losses in regulation, and one loss through penalty kicks. The head coach and players praised the team’s intensity and composure and encouraged them to maintain focus as they prepare for their next match.

“Great battle, ladies,” the team said. “Keep your heads up and look toward Thursday’s senior night.” Lincoln-Way West is set to return to action on Thursday evening as they honor their seniors in the final home game of the regular season.
