Lincoln-Way West High School faced a challenging SouthWest Suburban Conference match against Homewood-Flossmoor, ultimately losing 2–1 (25-19, 19-25, 17-25) on Thursday night in New Lenox.
The match occurred on October 16 at Lincoln-Way West High School. The Warriors competed fiercely until the final points when the Vikings managed to secure victory late in the third set.
According to the team lineup, Lincoln-Way West’s offense was spearheaded by Lily Goyer and Kara Stigter, each recording 11 kills. Setter Claire Murphy contributed significantly with 32 assists, while defensive specialist Sophia Rozga added seven digs to support the back row. Despite their loss, the Warriors demonstrated strong energy early in the game by winning the opening set before Homewood-Flossmoor rallied with consistent serves and net play. The Warriors’ current record stands at 18–11 overall and 4–3 in conference play.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way West will continue their conference matches next week as they travel to face Lincoln-Way Central on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
In their previous encounter last season, Homewood-Flossmoor also narrowly defeated Lincoln-Way West in three sets with scores of 23-25, 25-20, and 25-18.
