Lincoln-Way West’s boys varsity volleyball team was defeated in straight sets by Lincoln-Way Central on Thursday night, losing the Southwest Suburban Conference matchup 2-0.
According to the match results, the Knights overcame the Warriors with scores of 25-17 and 25-13 on West’s home court. This loss brings Lincoln-Way West to a 14-11 overall record and 1-2 in conference play.
Despite the setback, several Warriors posted solid individual performances. Senior Hunter Vedder led the team with six kills, four assists, and four digs. Colin Dargan added five kills, while Mason Thompson contributed three. Colin Baikie tallied two kills and one block. Andrew Flores led the defense with 10 digs.
Setting duties were shared among Ryne Ferree, who recorded seven assists, and Aidan Kettelson, who added four.
Lincoln-Way Central’s strong offensive pressure and consistent serving helped them control both sets, limiting West’s ability to generate momentum. The Warriors struggled to close the gap in the second set after falling behind early.
Lincoln-Way West will look to bounce back in its next matchup as the regular season continues. With only a few conference games remaining, each match carries weight in the race for playoff positioning. The match was held at 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln-Way West High School.
