The Lincoln-Way West girls’ water polo team secured a 9-7 victory over Andrew High School on Tuesday night. The match was closely contested, with the Warriors demonstrating resilience and determination.
According to head coach Eric Pavlacka, senior standout Joey Roedl led the team by scoring four goals. The Warriors relied on persistent offensive pressure and solid defense to counter a late surge from the Thunderbolts. Lilyth Swallow contributed three crucial goals, while Isabella Shenberger and Olivya Agema each added one goal to complete the team’s offensive efforts.
Pavlacka emphasized that senior goalkeeper Grace Brown was instrumental in the win. Her 15 saves were pivotal in anchoring a disciplined defense and halting Andrew’s momentum at critical moments. “Our defense stepped up when it mattered most, and Grace was just lights-out,” Pavlacka said. “The girls fought hard from start to finish.”
Lincoln-Way West initially took an early lead before Andrew responded with a strong performance in the third period, tightening the score. However, the Warriors maintained their composure, staying aggressive and focused defensively to secure the victory.
