Lincoln-Way West outlasted Thornton Fractional South 76–72 in a tightly contested varsity boys basketball non‑conference battle.
The Warriors secured the victory on January 31 at their home court. According to the team, they managed to withstand a strong shooting performance from Thornton Fractional South by controlling rebounds and completing possessions, achieving a 32-26 advantage in rebounding. Lincoln-Way West effectively moved the ball with 18 assists and protected the rim with four blocks, which helped counteract the Red Wolves’ 56% shooting from the field and 40% from three-point range. The Warriors’ performance at the free-throw line was crucial, converting 76% of their attempts compared to Thornton Fractional South’s 55%.
Next, Lincoln-Way West will face Sandburg this Friday night. The Warriors are set to host the Eagles in an important conference match in New Lenox, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on February 6. Currently, Lincoln-Way West holds a record of 13-14 while Sandburg stands at 17-10.
The last encounter between these teams saw Sandburg securing a decisive 73–60 victory on December 12. Lincoln-Way West aims to reverse that outcome on their home floor and demonstrate their capability against the Eagles when it matters most.
