Lincoln-Way West Varsity Warriors baseball dropped a non-conference battle to Lockport Varsity Porters 5-2 despite out-hitting them nine to five.
The showdown unfolded Monday at Lincoln-Way West High School, where the Warriors showed grit on their home diamond.
West’s lineup kept pressure on the Porters, with Michael Pettit leading the charge on a three-hit night and teammates Quinten Lange and Peyton Globke adding multiple knocks to fuel rallies. Jackson Mansker chipped in with an RBI, underscoring the Warriors’ ability to manufacture runs against a strong arm.
On the mound, Kellen Schulte battled through five and two-thirds innings, striking out three while working against Lockport’s patient approach. The Warriors’ defense held firm in key moments, limiting extra-base damage and keeping the contest within reach.
Though Lockport capitalized on timely swings and walks to secure the win, Lincoln-Way West’s nine-hit performance reflected a lineup capable of producing offense against quality pitching.
