Lincoln-Way West was represented at the IHSA Boys Swimming and Diving State Finals this season as Billy Spee and John Kucala advanced to compete among the top swimmers and divers in Illinois.

The IHSA Boys State Swimming and Diving Championships were held in February at the FMC Natatorium in Westmont, where the Warriors sent competitors in both swimming and diving events.

Spee emerged as one of Lincoln-Way West’s top performers throughout the season. He captured the sectional championship in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.33, earning his spot at the state finals. Spee also played a key role in the Warriors’ relay success, helping the team finish second overall. Lincoln-Way West placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.21 and second in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:19.67.

In diving, John Kucala represented the Warriors after placing third at sectionals in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 430.60, which secured his advancement to the state meet.

Competing at the state finals marked a strong achievement for the program, as both Spee and Kucala represented Lincoln-Way West on one of the biggest stages of the high school swimming and diving season.
