Lincoln-Way West’s girls cross country program opened the season with encouraging performances across both levels, showing depth and promise for the weeks ahead.
The Warriors’ fresh-soph squad secured a fourth-place team finish, paced by four top-25 efforts. Neve McSherry, Penny Pinciak, Adriana Litro, and Ava Ferrucci all ran determined races to establish an early foundation for the younger group. Their ability to keep pace in a competitive field highlighted the team’s steady training and balanced pack running.
On the varsity side, Lincoln-Way West finished sixth overall but impressed with a tight scoring group. Ally Dean led the way, supported closely by Ellie Trench, Celest Reiling, and Danity Paape. The four runners kept their splits within striking distance of one another, a promising sign as the season progresses toward larger invitationals and conference meets.
Coaches noted the Warriors’ collective focus and steady improvement as key takeaways from the opener. With both varsity and underclassmen squads building confidence, Lincoln-Way West looks poised to continue climbing in results as the team sharpens its endurance and race strategy.
The Warriors return to action next weekend in another competitive test.
