Lincoln-Way West girls’ swimming team delivered a notable performance Thursday in their dual meet against Lockport, showcasing depth and resilience across multiple events.

According to the report, the junior varsity Warriors set the tone in the opening 200-yard medley relay. The “A” squad, consisting of Leah Denton, Annabelle Frieh, Erin Peterson, and Molly Pacholski, secured victory with a time of 2:24.03. The “B” relay also contributed by finishing third, giving the team an early advantage. Denton further excelled by winning the junior varsity 50 freestyle in 31.05 seconds, leading a sweep of the top three spots for the Warriors.

On the varsity side, freshman Brooke Martenz emerged as a standout performer. Martenz posted a dominant time of 2:00.01 in the 200 freestyle, edging out Lockport’s top swimmer. She then returned to claim first place in the demanding 500 freestyle with an impressive time of 5:19.87. Senior leaders Ellie Trench and Liv Senesac also contributed significantly with key second- and third-place finishes.

Raelyn Ditmars added to the junior varsity’s success by winning the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:06.04, further enhancing West’s momentum.

With victories at both levels, Lincoln-Way West demonstrated their depth and potential in competitive swimming.
