Lincoln-Way West delivered a spirited performance but was edged 2–1 by St. Ignatius in a closely contested girls varsity soccer match.
The game, part of the Windy City Classic, ended with a score of 2–1 in favor of St. Ignatius, marking Lincoln-Way West’s first loss of the season after two consecutive wins. The match was closely contested, with Jay Hughes scoring the lone goal for the Warriors.
This setback brings Lincoln-Way West’s record to 2–1 and ends their perfect start to the season. It was also listed as the first matchup between the two schools according to MaxPreps. Up next, Lincoln-Way West will host Bloom in a non-conference match scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 at 11:45 a.m. Nearly a year ago, Lincoln-Way West defeated Bloom’s Blazing Trojans 3–0 in an away game played on April 1, 2025.
Lincoln-Way West serves grades nine through twelve and had an enrollment of 1,941 students during the 2019–2020 school year. The school is located in New Lenox and Will County. Of those enrolled that year, grade ten had the highest concentration at 39.4 percent; grade nine accounted for 36.3 percent; grade eleven made up 36.1 percent; and grade twelve comprised 37 percent, according to the Illinois Report Card.
