Lincoln-Way West’s varsity softball team secured a decisive 11-0 victory against Carl Sandburg High School on Tuesday afternoon. This win improved their overall record to 14-7 and brought them to an even 4-4 in the Southwest Suburban Conference.
According to the game details, the Warriors demonstrated both offensive and defensive prowess. Pitcher Abby Brueggmann led the team from the circle, pitching five innings, allowing only one hit, and striking out four batters.
At the plate, Reese Forsythe achieved a perfect 3-for-3 performance, drew a walk, stole a base, and scored twice. Cusack contributed significantly to the offense by going 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, two runs, and a stolen base. Madi Lukasik also had a strong showing with a 2-for-3 performance that included a double and two RBIs.
Molly Finn added to the team’s success with a 1-for-3 outing that drove in three runs and scored once. Brueggmann supported her own efforts on the mound with a double and two runs scored. Hannah Borchert went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run. Jess Noga and Paige Seivert each contributed with a hit and a run scored.
This commanding victory marked Lincoln-Way West’s second consecutive win as they continue to gain momentum late in the season. The Warriors are set to return to action later this week as conference play progresses.
