The Lincoln Way West Warriors softball program, led by Head Coach Heather Novak, has experienced significant growth since its establishment 17 years ago.

Reflecting on the team’s development, Novak highlighted the contributions of former players and coaches in achieving current success. “We’re really proud of the program we’ve built over the years,” she said. “It’s a tribute to everyone who’s embraced being a Warrior.” According to Novak, the program benefits from strong continuity, with five former student-athletes now serving as coaches. She also noted improvements in facilities that create an environment conducive to athlete development both on and off the field.

The team’s players, including Madi Lukasik, concentrate on building mental toughness and physical readiness. Lukasik emphasized the importance of consistent workouts for season preparation. “It’s all about practicing hard and staying confident,” she said. Upperclassman Reese Rourke is focused on becoming more vocal on the field and assuming a leadership role for the team. “Bringing up your teammates is crucial,” Rourke said.

Players also prioritize self-care strategies, with Erin Quigley highlighting rest, hydration, and nutrition as essential for meeting seasonal demands. For athletes like Molly Finn and Aly Kurczak, resilience remains a central focus. “Mistakes don’t define you,” Finn remarked. Kurczak added that maintaining mental toughness and positivity is vital.

The Warriors are set for another successful season, propelled by their solid foundation and commitment to growth.
