Warriors surge to water polo season‑opening victory over Knights

0Comments

Lincoln-Way West opened its season with a decisive 16–7 home non‑conference win over Lincoln-Way Central.

The game was played on Monday, March 9 at Lincoln-Way West.

The Warriors set the tone early, pushing the pace and controlling possession while showcasing a balanced, aggressive attack. Noah Kuesltzo and Tyler Stasiak powered the offense with five goals each, repeatedly finding seams in the Knights’ defense and capitalizing on transition opportunities. Lincoln-Way West’s pressure on both ends of the pool kept Central from mounting any sustained run, allowing the Warriors to maintain a comfortable margin throughout the match. The Warriors will host Lincoln-Way Central for a 5 p.m. conference rematch on April 7, giving the Warriors another shot at the Knights.

Lincoln-Way West now turns its attention to Bremen, which visits on Monday, March 16 at 5 p.m. for another non‑conference matchup. Bremen arrives at 1–0 after a dominant 14–2 season-opening win.

Last season, the Warriors faced Bremen twice, one week apart, and won both games. On their last match, on March 19, 2025, Lincoln-Way West rolled to an 18–3 non-conference victory. Nearly a year later, they will look to deliver a similar result as they defend their home pool once again.
