Lincoln-Way West girls varsity basketball team secured the Regional Championship on Tuesday night, defeating Lincoln-Way East 48-42 in a competitive match.
With this victory, the Warriors improved their season record to 22-11 and advanced to the next round of the playoffs. The game took place at Lincoln-Way East High School and highlighted a comprehensive team effort from West, with significant contributions from various players.
Senior guard Heaven Ward played a crucial role, stepping up in key moments to help secure the win. According to head coach Ryan White, “It was a total team effort,” adding that “everyone contributed, and we stayed composed in a tough environment. I’m incredibly proud of the way we fought.”
Lincoln-Way East maintained a close contest, but West’s resilience and decisive play in critical moments made the difference. Ward expressed enthusiasm for future challenges, stating, “We’re excited for the challenge ahead. This is just the beginning.”
