The Warriors wrestling team earned a 15th-place finish at the prestigious Dan Gable Donnybrook over the weekend, marking their highest finish at the tournament. Featuring 40 teams from six states, the Donnybrook is known as one of the toughest wrestling competitions in the nation.
The team’s strong performance was highlighted by individual achievements. Max Munn placed 9th in the 120-pound weight class, Shane Stream finished 10th at 126 pounds, Jimmy Talley secured 7th place at 190 pounds, and Nate Elstner took 9th at 215 pounds.
“This tournament is always a tough challenge, and our team competed at a very high level,” said Warriors head coach. “Our kids battled in every match, and I’m proud of how they performed.”
Coach also praised the team’s early-season success. “I’ve been very pleased with how we’ve started the year, especially with the tough schedule we’ve faced. Challenging ourselves early always pays off at the end of the season.”
Talley, in particular, stood out with his 7th-place finish. “Jimmy had a standout weekend,” said the coach. “His toughness and effort are something we can always count on, and he’s a great role model for our underclassmen.”
The Warriors’ performance at the Dan Gable Donnybrook serves as a strong foundation as they continue to build on a promising season.
