Lincoln‑Way West put out the fire of the Bloom Blazing Trojans with a 9–0 non‑conference win in girls varsity soccer.
The match was played on Tuesday, March 31, at Lincoln‑Way West High School.
The victory highlights Lincoln Way West’s strong early-season performance and depth across the roster. The team delivered a commanding performance from start to finish, overwhelming Bloom with relentless pressure, quick combinations, and scoring depth across every line. Caitlyn McCarthy led the attack with two goals, while Ava Casner, Jorie Elkei, Abby German, Lucy Sheriff, Olivia Stewart, Grace Kinsella, and Kate Kinsella each added a goal to complete a nine goal outburst. The Warriors’ midfield dictated the tempo, and their movement in the final third created chance after chance, supported by assists from Kate Kinsella (2), Kacie Sheriff, Quinn Smith, Olivia Stewart, and Grace Kinsella. Defensively, West was equally dominant, allowing Bloom little room to build possession, and goalkeeper Skylar Zahorik secured the shutout with confident handling and strong organization of the back line. The win reinforces West’s early season momentum and showcases the depth and balance that define this year’s squad.
Next up for Lincoln Way West is a conference matchup against Lincoln Way East on Tuesday, April 7 at 6:15 p.m., according to MaxPreps. The teams last met on May 27, 2025 when Lincoln Way East earned a 4–1 playoff win at a neutral site.
