Lincoln-Way West’s girls cross country program turned in a well-rounded performance Saturday at the Mike Kuharic Invitational, showing strength across varsity, junior varsity and freshman levels.
The varsity Warriors placed 12th overall in a deep field, finishing with 331 points. Leading the way were Ally Dean, Ellie Trench, and Celest Reiling, who paced the team with consistent efforts against top regional competition. The meet marked West’s first major invitational of the season, offering valuable experience for the team as it eyes continued improvement through September.
In junior varsity action, Kate Lemke provided a standout run, placing 53rd overall to anchor the squad’s effort. Coaches noted her race as a bright spot in a field packed with depth from larger programs.
The freshman group had one of the day’s most impressive results, placing eighth overall as a team. Ava Ferrucci and Kaydence Golembiewski both cracked the top 30 individually, while Penny Pinciak delivered a breakthrough performance, racing to an outstanding fourth-place finish.
With strong contributions across all levels, the Warriors left La Grange encouraged by their depth and development. The team now turns its focus to building on the momentum in upcoming conference meets.
