Lincoln-Way West’s junior varsity girls swim team delivered a strong performance Tuesday, defeating rival Lincoln-Way Central 95-81 in a competitive dual meet.
The Warriors showcased their depth across multiple events, with consistent contributions from every lane helping secure the victory. Sprint swimmers set the tone early, grabbing key points in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races, while West’s backstroke and breaststroke groups provided steady finishes to keep momentum on their side.
Relays proved to be a turning point, as West’s quartets outpaced Central in several close contests, swinging the score in the Warriors’ favor. Coaches credited the team’s balance and ability to step up in pressure situations, pointing to the way younger swimmers held their own against strong Central competition.
The meet also marked continued improvement for several athletes who cut time from earlier outings, a positive sign as the season progresses. With both experienced swimmers and newcomers contributing, West’s JV squad showed it has the depth and drive to compete in tight meets.
The Warriors will look to carry confidence from the win into their next dual, aiming to keep building momentum through September competition.
