Lincoln-Way West’s boys varsity volleyball team secured a victory against Lockport on Thursday night, winning in three sets: 25-19, 24-26, 25-17.
According to the match details, the Warriors improved their overall record to 17-14 and now stand at 2-2 in the Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC). The away win was characterized by consistent offense and key defensive plays from several contributors.
Senior Colin Baikie led the team with 14 kills, nine digs, and an ace. Hunter Vedder also contributed significantly with 14 kills, along with a block and an assist. Colin Dargan added six kills and five digs, while Jack Jurka provided five kills, nine digs, and one ace.
Additional contributions came from David Neylon with four kills, Mason Thompson with two kills, and Dain Mason with one. Setter Ryne Ferree anchored the offense with 32 assists and seven digs. After dropping a close second set, the Warriors rebounded in the third set using aggressive net play and solid communication to secure the match.
Lincoln-Way West is set to return to action next week as they aim to build momentum in the SWSC while the regular season winds down and playoff positioning begins to take shape. The match commenced at 5:30 p.m. at Lockport Township High School.
